ZeroCount started inside Ensign— a UK firm that’s been writing takeoff and estimating tools for British contractors for years. The founders are estimators. They got tired of explaining to procurement that no, they couldn’t just speed up — symbol-matching tools weren’t reading the drawings their clients actually sent.
We applied for Innovate UK Smart Grants in October 2021 and got funded to build the AI engine ourselves. The takeoff method is patented under GB2631290 (UK). Today ZeroCount is the AI takeoff arm of the Ensigngroup — same data, same pricing library, same support team you’d get from any other tool in the family.
